Bucks hosts third women’s summit on entrepreneurship

Posted

Bucks County Community College invites the public to its third annual Women’s Summit on Entrepreneurship Friday, Oct. 18, on the Newtown Campus, at 275 Swamp Road.

The Women’s Summit brings together members of the community in a one-day event that provides inspiration and business advice to women in Bucks County. Women looking to start, expand, and lead entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial initiatives have the chance to meet and learn from like-minded individuals.

The event begins with registration and continental breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by the opening keynote speaker at 8:45 a.m. The day continues with two morning breakout sessions, a lunch-and-learn featuring another keynote speaker, and two afternoon breakout sessions. The breakout sessions follow two tracks: Start Smart, for aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups, and Scale-Up, for existing business owners.

The summit opens with a keynote presentation by Nicole Michalik, a DJ on 92.5 WXTU and host of the “Why Are You Following Me?” podcast.

In her time away from radio, she appeared on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.” She has starred off-Broadway in “Gilbert Gottfried Presents: The Diet Show,” has been a featured presenter at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women, and has assisted with social media at national events such as the iHeart Radio Music Festival and iHeart Radio Awards.

A graduate of Drexel University, she was named one of Drexel’s “40 under 40!”

The lunch-and-learn keynote speaker is Mary Honkus, an editorial assistant at Real Simple Magazine. As Miss Pennsylvania International 2015, the Johnstown native traveled the state, promoting her “Positively Beautiful” platform – a campaign aimed to raise self-esteem and confidence in young girls. She earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and marketing from the Fashion institute of Technology in New York City.

Tickets are $50, including breakfast and lunch. In addition, $3 from every ticket purchase will go to Pine2Pink, a nonprofit organization that benefits local breast cancer patients in treatment and recovery.
