Bucks County Symphony Orchestra slates Winter Concert

Posted

The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra’s Winter Concert will be held at Central Bucks High School South 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20.
This concert is the second in the BCSO’s yearlong celebration of Maestro Gary S. Fagin’s 20th anniversary and final season as music director.
The concert is sponsored by Eastburn and Gray.
Featured soloist for the evening is pianist Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner, who joins the BCSO and Assistant Conductor Sebastian Grand in a performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor.
Sanchez-Werner has captivated audiences on five continents, including performances at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and at the White House for President and Mrs. Obama at the age of 9. He was awarded a YoungArts gold medal in music by the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts and received the Atlantic Council Young Global Citizen Award for his dedication to social action through music.

The BCSO opens the concert with the jubilant Prelude to Act III from Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin.” Fagin returns to the podium for the second half of the program, conducting Anton Bruckner’s massive Symphony No. 4 in Eb, known as the Romantic symphony.
Tickets, $18 in advance ($20 at the door) and $15 for seniors, can be purchased in Doylestown at Rutherford’s Camera Shop and the Doylestown Bookshop, or online at BucksCountySymphony.org. Students are admitted free.
Call 215-348-7321 or visit the website for more information.
In consideration of the health and safety of musicians, volunteers and guests, masks and proof of vaccination with photo ID are required for admission to the concert.
