Bucks County issues Code Blue declaration

Anticipating a bitterly cold week, including night time lows barely breaking into the teens and the possibility of more snow Friday into Friday night has led the Bucks County Commissioners, in conjunction with the county Departments of Health and Emergency Management, to declare a Code Blue.

The declaration, effective at 7 p.m. Tuesday, will extend until 7 a.m. Saturday, March 9.

For the duration of the Code Blue period, adults-only overnight shelters will be open in Lower, Central and Upper Bucks County for those in need of cold-weather housing. No one under age 18 will be admitted.

The available overnight shelters for this time period are:

- Lower Bucks: Emilie United Methodist Church, 7300 New Falls Road, Levittown. Opens at 9 p.m.

- Central Bucks: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Doylestown. Opens at 7:30 p.m.

- Upper Bucks: Quakertown Masonic Lodge, 501 W. Broad St., Quakertown. Opens at 8:15 p.m.
