Bucks County Herald Foundation earns GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency

It is awards season — and not just for Hollywood.

The Bucks County Herald Foundation, the nonprofit entity that owns the Bucks County Herald newspaper, has received the prestigious Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information about nonprofit organizations. Through its variety of print, electronic, and online information resources for donors and grantmakers, GuideStar’s ratings influence donor confidence.

“We are thrilled to receive the Platinum Seal of Approval from GuideStar,” said Ann Meredith, executive director of the Bucks County Herald Foundation. “This recognition validates our steadfast dedication to transparency and high degree of accountability we feel towards our donors and communities we serve across the region.”

Multiple research studies demonstrate that nonprofit organizations that exhibit transparency foster greater trust and confidence among donors and grantmakers.

Reader donations to the Bucks County Herald Foundation, whose board of directors is chaired by the Herald newspaper’s founding editor, Bridget Wingert, have enabled the newspaper to maintain and even grow its coverage while other local newspapers are closing at a rate of two per week, or operating as shadows of their former selves.

“The Herald Foundation’s mission is to help readers, communities, and democracy to thrive. As long as the community supports us, the Herald will be here for years to come. That is our greatest hope,” said Wingert.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Bucks County Herald Foundation’s mission is to help communities and democracy thrive through trusted local journalism. Contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. For more information about the Bucks County Herald Foundation, visit
