Bucks County inmate’s death under investigation

Posted

Bucks County officials are investigating the death of a female inmate at the correctional facility in Doylestown Township.

The woman was in her late 40s, a county spokesman said Thursday. She was pronounced dead at Doylestown Health. She was not identified and the cause of death is not yet known.

In January, another inmate, 35-year-old Octavius Davis, was found dead in the jail. Her death was the second reported this year.

The jail dealt with an usually high number of deaths last year. In the first six months of 2022, four people died while in custody at the county’s correctional facility. Three of those deaths were suicides and one inmate died of natural causes, according to officials. Two of the deaths occurred in a single month.

The Bucks County Herald reported on the deaths in September of last year.

Bucks County Detectives and the Department of Corrections Investigations Unit are investigating the woman’s death this week.
