Bucks County Community College art exhibition showcases student creativity

The Arts and Communication Department at Bucks County Community College will host the 58th Annual Student Art Exhibition on view Friday, April 28 through Tuesday, May 9 in the Hicks Art Center.

The exhibition showcases work created by students in the arts and communication department during fall 2022 and spring 2023. Medias include ceramics, digital media, drawing, film, fine woodworking, glass, graphic design, jewelry, music, painting, printmaking, photography, 2D design, 3D design, video and web design.

The public is invited to the exhibition reception, open studios, student art and craft sale, and the art scholarship and award ceremony 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

The schedule and locations for Sunday are as follows:

– Student exhibition reception: 1-4 p.m., Hicks Art Center; 2 p.m., arts scholarship and award ceremony.

– Student art and craft sale: 1-4 p.m., 3-D Courtyard (weather permitting) or 3-D Arts 001.

– Open studios: 1-4 p.m., Hicks Art Center. Ceramics wheel-throwing and hand-building, Room 001; fine woodworking, Room 130; jewelry, Room 111; photography, rooms 118 and 120; printmaking, Room 106; sculpture, foundry and glass, 3-D Building.

– Ceramics Wheel-throwing and Hand-building, Room 001; Fine Woodworking, Room 130; Jewelry, Room 111; Photography, Rooms 118 & 120; Printmaking, Room 106; Sculpture, Foundry and Glass, 3-D Building.

– Glass blowing demonstrations: 1-4 p.m., 3-D Arts Building 010. James Labold and students demonstrate Glassblowing techniques throughout the afternoon.

– Wood turning demonstration: 1-2 p.m., Hicks Art Center, Room 130. Janine Wang will show her expertise in the art of wood turning.

– Bronze pour demonstration: 3 p.m., 3-D Arts Building, Metal Foundry. Jon Burns will guide a team of artists through the process of casting bronze sculpture.
