Bucks artist Tricia Zimic to show at Hunterdon Art Museum

Posted

Tricia Zimic of Upper Black Eddy will exhibit her “Sins & Virtues” porcelain sculptures at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, N.J., beginning with an opening reception and “meet the artist” event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22.

Zimic’s sculptures are recently back from Meissen, Germany, where her work was on display at the Meissen Albrechtsburg Castle, where porcelain was first introduced in Europe over 300 years ago. Her sculptures are produced entirely by hand and are very much in keeping with the classic Meissen tradition of using animals as anthropomorphic representations of human activity and drama.

“My ‘Sins & Virtues’ sculptures were inspired by my visit to Meissen some years ago, and I was intrigued to tell my story in porcelain using baboons as my muse,” Zimic said.

Zimic was the winner of the 2021 Patrons Award for sculpture at the 92nd Juried Art Show at Phillips’ Mill for her porcelain sculpture, “Diligence/Kintsugi.” Meissen Manufactory is now in the process of reproducing this sculpture for their showroom display and international sale.

Her work will be on display at the Hunterdon Art Museum from Jan. 22 to March 5.
