Buckingham ranks #11 in Safe Cities

Buckingham Township has been ranked 11th in the country for its safe neighborhoods.’s list of safest communities in the country lists 100 communities, most of them positioned in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
New Jersey dominates the list for the second consecutive year with 25 percent of the safest cities in the country – but only one (Bergenfield) made it into the top five. Bergenfield also claimed the number three spot among the Garden State’s safest cities of 2020. In the local area, Raritan Township ranked 37th and Hopewell Township 60th.
Massachusetts had the second-highest number of cities on the list, with 15. Hopkinton slipped from number one last year to the number two spot – but it stayed on top as the safest city in Massachusetts for the second year in a row.
Pennsylvania had 12 cities listed, including Upper Saucon Township at 27, Northampton Township at 31, and Newtown Township at 66.
The remaining states with big showings include New York (10 cities), and Ohio (8 cities).
Most cities take this as an opportunity to recognize their most standout police officers, city officials, and neighborhood watch leaders. It’s a chance to shine a light on the city’s continuing commitment to public safety, and residents have been notably appreciative for the positive, non-coronavirus news.
