Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve’s Native Plant Nursery set to open

Posted

Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve’s Native Plant Nursery, 1635 River Road, New Hope, will publicly open for the 2023 season from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

The event attracts nature enthusiasts, gardeners and everyone who appreciates the beauty and importance of native plants.

“In 2021 and 2022, the Preserve experienced a tremendous increase in the demand for the high-quality native plants produced in our Native Plant Nursery,” said Peter Couchman, Preserve executive director.

“We are thrilled that more and more people are adding native plants to their gardens and landscapes. What’s even more exciting is that our visitors are coming to the Native Plant Nursery with a greater understanding of the important role native plants play in the environment already in hand.

“Not only can our visitors support their local populations of native plant species, but in turn, they support the native insects, birds and other wildlife that depend on native plants for survival and help fight the impacts of climate change.

“Native plants provide food, shelter and a reproduction resource for many of the beneficial insects, birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals that live in our region. Since these plants and other species have evolved over millions of years to coexist, they thrive together in our local and regional ecosystems.

Preserve members will have members-only early access today, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Renew your membership or join today at bhwp.org.

Located on 134 acres in Bucks County, Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of native plants. While the Native Plant Nursery has a seasonal opening, the Preserve itself is open year-round for visitation.
