Book Festival launches One Book event

Posted
Bucks County Book Festival offers a new event, One Book – a community-wide reading initiative.

Community reads are popular all over the country, and Bucks County Book Festival is happy to bring one to Bucks County. During a community read, members of a community come together by reading and discussing a single book.

Each year, Bucks County Book Festival will select One Book and host a series of events and programs celebrating and discussing themes and topics in the book.

For 2019, the festival has chosen “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein – the best-selling story of Enzo, the dog with a nearly-human soul. It’s a heart-warming, funny, and uplifting tale of family, love, loyalty, and hope.

Stein has also written companion books, “Racing in the Rain” – a young reader’s version for ages 8-12 – and “Enzo Races in the Rain!” – a picture book story for the youngest readers ages 4-8. This year’s One Book is truly one people of all ages can enjoy.

The festival has events planned to discuss and complement One Book, including a panel discussion at the Bucks County Book Festival, a One Book special film showing at the County Theater, and more. For information, visit bucksbookfest.org.

The Bucks County Book Festival, taking place on Oct. 12 and 13 in Doylestown, is a two-day celebration connecting authors and book lovers young and old.

It features a Keynote Author Event with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anna Quindlen, professionally-published authors with author panels and book signings, writers’ and illustrators’ workshops, Kids Book Fest and Fire Prevention Open House, Books ‘N Brew, vendors, and more. Most events are free.
