“Birth Stories” calls for visual, performance, written submissions

Posted

Flemington DIY’s latest call for art highlights “Birth Stories: How We Become Parents,” with an exhibit of the same name, opening 3 to 5 p.m. June 4.

“Birth Stories” will include all the diverse ways people of all genders and identities share the importance of parenting stories in family constellations of all kinds.

Whether you adopted, physically birthed, or your child came into your life via another route, Flemington DIY wants to hear from you. “Sharing how we become parents, with all the highs and lows, challenges overcome and strength found, can be an empowering experience, allowing you to be seen and also giving fortitude to others.”

The show will accept visual, performance, or written pieces, and is hosted by Allison LeMieux, birth doula, and Nicole Maniez, acupuncturist, childbirth educator. The submission deadline is May 20 and the submission fee is $25 or $15 for members. Information is at flemingtondiy.org/birth-stories.
