Betty Jane Gonnerman


Betty Jane Gonnerman of Dublin, Pa., passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence with her family on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023. She was 87.

Born in Bristol, Pa., to the late Fred and Martha Jane (Hibbs) Hall, Betty resided in Bristol, Pa., Jamison, Pa., retired to Sarasota, Fla., and then Dublin, Pa., in 1999 where she remained until her passing.

She was formerly employed as a registered nurse in several care facilities including Lower Bucks Hospital, Delaware Valley Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Heritage Towers, Doylestown Manor, and Alterra Clare in Dublin, Pa. Betty was a former member of Bristol Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, Senior Center Toe Tappers and Chorus, and played bells at the United Church of Christ (St. Luke’s) of Dublin, Pa.

She was the beloved wife of the late John M. Gonnerman Jr.; devoted mother of Valerie Stone (Lawrence), Wayne R. Gonnerman (Barbara) and Ruth Hofmann (Anthony); loving grandmother of Christopher (Roxanne), Kimberly, Jennifer (Luke), Kelsie (Corey), Lauryn (T. Kurt), Emily, Gabrielle, John and the late Shane; and cherished great-grandmother of Nora, Emma, Thomas, Hayley, Taylor, Michael, Ava, Luke and Gia.

Cremation and memorial services are private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 N. Main St., Doylestown, PA 18901.

Betty was always giving in her life and to her family, her profession, and her community. She often willingly gave her time to others and used humor and her faith to bring joy to others. She loved traveling, history, crocheting, singing, attending bible study, tap dancing, and all Philadelphia team sports, especially the Flyers hockey team. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to your choice charity or community center , or a simple act of kindness to another would be appreciated.
