Beppe Gambetta, Mike Guggino and Barrett Smith plan concerts at Prallsville Mills

Posted

Prallsville Mills hosts guitarist Beppe Gambetta, in concert with Mike Guggino and Barrett Smith of Steep Canyon Rangers, Jan. 13 and 14.

Shows are at 8 p.m. Jan. 13, and 3 p.m. Jan. 14, at the Mill, 33 Risler St., Stockton, N.J.

Gambetta is an acoustic guitarist, songwriter, producer and teacher whose art is fueled by the curiosity that arises from his journeys, personal encounters and keen research. He has brought forgotten artists back to life, invented and popularized many acoustic guitar techniques, produced unforgettable shows and released a plenitude of original music for which he is loved and respected across the international scene.

For 13 years, Gambetta has made Stockton his second home.

Guggino and Smith have been performing traditional Italian folk music on the mandolin and guitar for nearly two decades. They are both members of the Grammy Award-winning band Steep Canyon Rangers. When they aren’t touring with the band, they host “Italian Night” performances featuring exotic, Italian folk songs at music venues and house concerts.

Gambetta decided to dedicate his yearly “home concert” at the Mill to his Italian heritage and together with Guggino and Smith will lead the audience through a journey of Italian, passionate melodies and songs. The program will touch old traditions but also the work of Italian American artists, of Italian songwriters, and Gambetta’s most recent compositions. As a surprise, there will be a few Bluegrass tunes, the other common passion of the three musicians.
