“Benny from Beirut” among cats to benefit from matching challenge

Posted

One small Lebanese stray launched a worldwide search for help and hope … and this fall, he’s the “poster cat” for a special matching donation challenge.
With a moonlike face and a heart of gold, “Benny” was the sweetest street cat on either side of the Atlantic. But the 2020 Beirut blast left him with severe injuries to his hind end, and nowhere to turn. Kind rescuers scooped him up but lacked the resources to heal his hurting little body.
It would take a global search to find a sanctuary willing to say “yes” to Benny. But fortunately for the little white cat, Tabby’s Place is known as a refuge for cats with nowhere else to turn. As a haven for cats from hopeless situations, Tabby’s Place lives to love cats like Benny. And so, the sweetest stray in the world made a lifesaving, 6,000-mile journey into the arms of love.
Benny received intensive care at a world-class specialty hospital, including surgeries, frequent bandage changes over the course of many months, and blood transfusions.
The price to save Benny’s life was high. But Tabby’s Place is devoted to cats in the most desperate circumstances. Once a cat comes to the sanctuary, he receives the promise: you will get everything you need to thrive, whatever the cost...and all the love we have to give.
Tabby’s Place created the Linda Fund to provide life-saving treatment for cats like Benny. This special reserve provides world-class emergency and specialty care for sick and injured cats, right in their hour of need. And, this fall, donations to the Linda Fund will be doubled.

Cat lovers are encouraged to visittabbysplace.org to make a gift of love. Donations of any amount will be matched by benefactors, going twice as far for cats in desperate need.
As for brave Benny? Today, even as his treatments continue, the Lebanese love bug makes it his mission to bring joy to everyone he meets, snuggling and purring with all his might.
For information, contact Tabby’s Place Development Director Angela Hartley at 908-237-5300 x235 or ah@tabbysplace.org. Donations may also be made out to Tabby’s Place and mailed to the sanctuary at 1100 US Highway 202, Ringoes, N.J. 08551.
