Barbara Postel art retrospective to take place in New Hope

Posted

A retrospective show featuring decades of artwork created by well-known artist Barbara Postel, who lived and worked in Bucks County, from 1970 until her death in 2018, will be on exhibit at New Hope Arts’ A-Space Gallery from Dec. 7 to 31.

The public is invited to an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 2 Stockton St., first floor, New Hope. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and by appointment.

Postel left behind a body of acclaimed work – flowing skies, rushing water and vibrant rocks – her visual documentation of an unquenchable passion for a life well-lived.

Point Pleasant’s Tohickon Creek and nearby destinations on and around the Delaware River were a never-ending source of inspiration for her paintings, which often focused on the rainbow sparkle of the sun on the water and rocks. Postel’s stream of life imagery was a direct, spontaneous expression of a spiritual fusion with her subject.

Postel left a legacy on canvas, and in architecture, sculpture and photography.

Appointments to view the work outside of the regular New Hope Arts A-space gallery weekend show hours can be made by emailing Carlos Guerrero, carlosguerrero2k@gmail.com.
