Arts and Cultural Council hosts Bookish Events at Freeman Hall

Posted

The Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County invites the community to join the organization in celebrating the opening of the A&C Community Meeting Center at Freeman Hall while attending a weekend of events being offered by regional artists and writers in conjunction with the Doylestown Book Festival.
Throughout the weekend of Sept. 24 to 26, the A&C has planned “bookish events” to highlight both literary and visual artist members of the council.
Jewelry-maker Susan Forker of joeyfivecents will display her vintage paper and resin work Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Five Bucks County poet laureates, including the current poet laureate, Jane Edna Mohler, will sign books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, along with six other authors and illustrators. At 1 p.m. Sunday, book artist Mindy Trost will demonstrate the art of bookbinding from raw materials to tools to finished product.
The council also invites the public to tour the Fall Salon Member Show, which opened Sept. 11 and runs through Oct. 31, with weekend hours. The exhibition features the work of 70 artists, with 140 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, mixed media works, relief sculptures, and more. Collectors are invited to see the show and support local artists by making a purchase.

The exhibition and programs are free and open to the public.
The Arts & Cultural Council Community Meeting Center at Freeman Hall is located at 181 E. Court St., Doylestown. Street parking is available.
