Arnold Hobson

Arnold Hobson, of Nockamixon Township and formerly of Tinicum Township, Pa., passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Township, Pa. He was 84.

He was the husband of Otilda K. “Tillie” (Lutz) Hobson. The couple had celebrated their seventh wedding Anniversary on January 30, 2023. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Marie (Buckley) Hobson, who died July 11, 2011.

Born in Skippack, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph Victor Sr. and Edith Alden (McMaster) Hobson. A 1957 graduate of Palisades High School, Kintnersville, Pa, he attained his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Lafayette College, Easton, Pa.

Mr. Hobson owned and operated the Hobson Saw Mill, Pipersville, Pa., from 1996 until retiring in 2022. He also worked concurrently as a manufacturing manager for General Electric Space Division, East Windsor, N.J., for over 25 years until retiring there.

He was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie (Kellers Church), Pa.

An avid hunter, Mr. Hobson was an antique car enthusiast and proud owner of a 1936 Ford Five-Window Coupe, a 1950 Ford Coupe, and a 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible and who loved attending car shows over the years.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Arnold Hobson Jr., of British Columbia, and Dawson Hobson, of Telford, Pa.; two stepchildren, Frank E. “Ted” Hacker IV and his wife Tricia, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Robert Thomas Hacker and his wife Caroline, of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren, Kirsten Elyse, Lindsay Marie and MacKenzie Alden; two step-grandchildren, Eva Alina and Calista; two brothers, Wayne Hobson, of Tinicum Township, and Victor Hobson and his wife Maria, of Palau; and a sister, Joan Quinby and her husband John, of Tinicum Township. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Lutz.

His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie (Kellers Church), where family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in the adjacent St. Matthew’s Prayer Garden.
