Area children help stock Doylestown Borough Pond for opening day of trout

Fish were delivered to the Doylestown Borough Pond March 23, in preparation for the Youth Fishing Derby, set for the season’s opening day, at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 2.
Children from local schools were on hand to help stock the fish.
The fishing derby is free for boys and girls 16 and under and they are welcome to free burgers and hot dogs, soda, sports drinks, water and other refreshments.
For the fish stocking, pizza was donated by Weis Markets, Franco’s, Nat’s, Dominos of Doylestown and Dominick’s Pizza of Plumsteadville.
A second stocking of fish will take place April 29.

Seniors, handicapped persons, and disabled veterans are invited to the fishing derby starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 30. Rods or bait will be provided for those in need. Free burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches will be provided.
The fishing derbies are sponsored by Friends of the Borough Dam, Doylestown Rotary, Dave’s Sports Center and the Borough of Doylestown.
Tax deductible donations can be sent to Friends of the Borough Dam, Doylestown Borough Hall, 10 Doyle St., Doylestown 18901.
Used fishing rods and reels are also needed for use during the derbies. Items may be dropped off at Dave’s Sports Center, 1127 N. Easton Road, Doylestown, or at Mt. Lake Pool & Patio, 4140 Skyron Drive.
