Posted

AOY Art Center has named Jessica Todd Smith the juror for its 11th annual Juried Art Show.

As the director of Curatorial Initiatives and the Susan Gray Detweiler Curator of American Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Smith is responsible for American painting and sculpture made between 1900 and 1960.

The Juried Art Show is open for all artists to enter, one of only two shows that AOY Art Center opens to all artists each year.

“This year promises to attract a high quality of art given the amazing quality of the Juror,” stated Bette Sovinee, AOY’s executive director. “We are continually working to provide the very best experience for our artists and to provide quality exhibitions for our community.”

Entries are due Saturday, March 1, and the exhibition dates are April 14 to May 14. Artists can enter up to three pieces for $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Interested artists can go to aoyarts.org to learn more and find all the details in the prospectus. Cash prizes will be awarded. Artists can go to aoyarts.org for the full prospectus and entry link.

AOY Art Center (Artists of Yardley) is a not for profit organization located at 949 Mirror Lake Road, Yardley (Lower Makefield Township).

Prior to her work at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Smith was the Virginia Steele Scott Chief Curator of American Art at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, Calif. She earned her B.A. from Harvard University and Ph.D. from Yale University.
