Animal Alliance’s Cat of the Week

Posted

Philomena is shy and low-key lady who is 3 years of age.

Philomena arrived to Animal Alliance with her newborns kittens who have all since been adopted, and now it’s Philomena’s turn.

Philomena is a sweet, gentle and very affectionate girl, but has had some trauma in her life that’s left her afraid of hands and fingers. She desperately wants human contact, scratches and cuddles, but she’s having a hard time getting past her fear. She’s absolutely fine if your hand is hidden from view and she’ll purr up a storm and snuggle into a sock-covered hand with no reservations. She allows some of our volunteers to use bare hands with her, but it’s difficult for her, especially when she’s feeling the stress of being in an adoption center instead of her own home. She’s going to need some patience and love to build trust and self-confidence, but she is such a sweetheart, it will be worth the effort. Philomena has been very cat social with some cats, but she’s very shy and just hides from any sort of aggression.

Philomena has black and white coloring and is spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, dewormed, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. To fill out a cat adoption application, visit animalalliancenj.org.
