ANEW Artist Alliance featured in new popup show

Posted

AOY Art Center announced a new pop-up show last week featuring the work of the ANEW Artist Alliance for two weekends this March.
The show is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. March 4 to 6 or March 18 to 20.
ANEW Artist Alliance is a group of 18 artists who are current or former patrons of the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). The alliance began in 2001, with five members running the organization and choosing projects.

This connection was made through a Facebook post on Yardley Borough’s page by a volunteer with TASK asking for exhibition locations.
AOY responded and worked with the group on everything from art selection and pricing to professional art displays. The background stories of ANEW members can be found at anewartists.com.
“Art is like therapy for me. I can express my feelings easily through my art. I will be doing art for the rest of my life because it is still the way I can express all my feelings,” said Warcheerah Kilima, an ANEW member orginally from Tanzania. “A lot of people have mental problems because they don’t have a place to put their anger. If all the people in the world did art, a lot of the problems would be solved because art is amazing.”
