Grant Ament’s lifetime dream came true on Monday night. The Doylestown native made his professional debut for the Premier Lacrosse League’s (PLL) Archers in their 11-10 win over Atlas LC. Archers LC (2-0) rallied to top Waterdogs LC 9-7 the next night.
Attack Ament had three goals and an assist in his debut; he tallied another goal and three assists on Tuesday.
From July 25 to Aug. 2, the PLL’s seven teams will compete in a 14-game group play format to determine seeding for the following week’s single-elimination tournament. Ament’s Archers were the last PLL team to take the field.
The tournament takes place at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. No fans are permitted but games are televised on NBC and NBCSN.
Ament was the PLL’s first pick of its May 13 draft. The NCAA’s single-season assists record-holder as well as the record-holder for most points in an NCAA tournament, Ament closed his Penn State career with 91 goals and 189 assists in 54 games. He was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy for NCAA Player of the Year in 2019. That same spring, Ament led Penn State to the NCAA finals.
