Advertising sales veteran Bill Cotter joins the Herald

Posted

On the heels of announcing the hiring of its new editor in chief, John Anastasi, the Bucks County Herald has tapped newspaper advertising veteran William “Bill” Cotter to serve as its new director of advertising sales.

Cotter brings with him over 35 years of advertising experience, including many leadership roles at prestigious publishing companies, such as Trib Total Media, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Gateway Community Newspapers.

“Bill is known across the commonwealth as one of the best at what he does. People love working with him and we couldn’t be happier to have him on our leadership team,” said Joe Wingert, publisher.

“As an industry colleague, I always had the utmost respect for what the Wingerts were doing at the Herald,” said Cotter. “I am awed by the level of support for local journalism in this community. The Herald is bucking the trend and I am excited to be part of its future.”

Allan Ash, who has held the role of advertising sales leader for the last three years, has been named the Herald’s Digital Sales Director and will focus his energies on the growth of digital advertising, according to Wingert.

“While other local news organizations are contracting or closing down, we are growing. Part of that growth is being able to meet the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses that need a full array of digital advertising services,” said Wingert.

“I’m excited for the chance to focus all of my energies on growing our digital solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses,” said Ash. “There are so many ways we can help our local businesses to grow, and helping each other is what we are all about.”
