ACME to screen “The Wisdom of Trauma,” host discussion

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, join ACME Screening Room, 25 S. Union St., Lambertville, N.J., at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 18, for a screening of “The Wisdom of Trauma” followed by a discussion with Chelsea Petrosky, certified trauma therapist.

In “The Wisdom of Trauma,” travel alongside physician and bestselling author Dr. Gabor Maté to explore why western society is facing multiple epidemics. This is a journey with a man who has dedicated his life to understanding the connection between illness, addiction, trauma and society.

These interconnected epidemics are, according to Dr Maté, normal. But not in the way you might think. Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds.

Stay after the film for a discussion with Petrosky. She has been serving survivors of trauma over the last 13 years in various clinical and victim services settings.

She has worked as the director of counseling and clinical services at a local domestic violence organization and is the founder of Chelsea Petrosky Therapy, which provides healing services to survivors of complex trauma, intimate partner abuse, and traumatic grief locally in Bucks County.
