Abstract artist exhibits at East Amwell Museum

East Amwell Museum, 1053 Old York Road, Ringoes, N.J., hosts an exhibition by artist Florence Moonan from April 6 to May 12.

A Meet the Artist Reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 12.

Moonan grew up in Lambertville, N.J. Today, her home and studio are located in Stockton, N.J. She was employed at The College of New Jersey (previously known as Trenton State College) for more than 30 years.

During that time, she began taking art courses there, learning to express her inner thoughts and emotions through color and texture. She began working in an abstract manner and today is known for colorful abstract Venetian plaster paintings.

Moonan earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts summa cum laude in 2002. She retired in 2007 and began painting full time.

Her artwork was selected for the 2017-2018 New Jersey Emerging Artists Series at Monmouth Museum. Her paintings have been selected for numerous juried shows, invitationals and group exhibitions throughout the United States.
