The weekend of Sept. 26 is a historic one for the Phillips Mill Community Association; its 91st annual art show will be virtual, for the first time in the show’s history, a necessity due to the coronavirus.
“The organizers of this juried show made the bold decision to pivot and change direction at the beginning of the virus lockdown, and co-chairs Tim Lovrinic and Laura Womack, along with their energetic, determined committee, have worked tirelessly to get the word out that the show would go on, be judged totally online by an outstanding panel of jurists, and open to the public for exhibit and sale on Saturday, Sept. 26,” the association said.
They could not disappoint the hundreds of followers who look forward to this annual fundraising event nor the many artists who live within a 25-mile radius of the historic mill who eagerly look forward to entering this prestigious competition.

With great optimism they appreciated the fact that having the show online presents a huge opportunity for art lovers worldwide to leisurely look at the work and discover what a wealth of talent resides within the New Hope area.
This opportunity proved inviting for hundreds of artists who submitted their work by 5 p.m. Aug. 22.
The three painting and two sculpture jurors then began their work individually online, ranking the pieces according to a well-developed criteria.
Once their individual work was complete, Zoom calls were held with their collaborators and show organizers. The final selection was determined for the three categories: framed, sculpture, and portfolio.
