18th edition of Bucks County Classic is around the corner

Posted

The excitement is building for the premier bicycle race in Pennsylvania, the Bucks County Classic, scheduled for Sept. 11 in Doylestown.

Racers from around the world and across the nation are gearing up to compete in this highly anticipated event.

In addition to featuring some of the top cyclists in the Doylestown Health Pro Women’s race and Thompson Pro Men’s race, the Bucks County Classic will have competitions for amateur women and men; a masters race for those ages 45 and up; and free races for children ages 3 to 10 during the Jarrett Vaughan Builders Kids Races.

What’s more, anyone with a bike and helmet can participate in The Herald Ride the Course between the Eagle Power Turf and Tractor amateur men’s race and pro races. Participation in the competitive races requires a USA Cycling race license.

The Bucks County Classic is held during the biggest entertainment weekend in the county, taking place alongside the Doylestown Arts Festival. The 1.4 mile race course circles the arts festival and new for this year features an exposition area with local businesses, organizations and activities next to the start/finish line on the lawn of the Bucks County Administration Building.

“We’re really excited to be able to hold this race for the 18th year in Doylestown,” said Laura Reppert, race director. “Every year it amazes us how the community pulls together to make this happen. From the businesses who sponsor the Bucks County Classic to the volunteers and municipal organizations who step up and help stage all the activities, it’s truly a fantastic effort on everyone’s part. Along with the Doylestown Arts Festival, this makes for an awesome day of free family friendly entertainment.”
