Mountainview Road section to close for rehab project May 11

Posted

Starting May 11, and continuing for at least a month, Route 563 (Mountain View Road), through Nockamixon State Park, will not be available as a connection between Routes 412 and 313, due to a bridge rehab closure. The detour route will be Ridge Road on the Route 313 side, which continues to become South Park Road by the time it reaches Route 611, with northbound there reaching Route 412. However, Route 563 remains open on both ends up to the bridge rehab.

The closure of the bridge, which goes over Saw Mill Road at the point it changes to Churchview Road in Haycock Township, was announced at the May 4 board of supervisors meeting. Officials said the rehab project was listed at 35 days, but could take as long as 60 days.

Also at the May 4 meeting, officials discussed various limitations mandated by the pandemic, and how they could change when the situation changed from “red” to “yellow,” which was estimated to still be months away. Once the change was realized, they noted a willingness to consider a resolution to further help restaurants, who would only be allowed to host at 25 per cent of capacity, to also be allowed to have outdoor seating and wait service. Meanwhile, takeout business was noted as brisk.

Haycock was noted as the only township in the county to have not had a single confirmed case of the Covid-19 virus. Both Nockamixon and Durham were noted to have been in and out of the no-cases status.

The township conducted a new home inspection by its building inspector and zoning officer that was needed to finalize a mortgage, but in a concession to the ongoing crisis, the zoning officer was able to do his part without entering the house.
