Thanksgiving Eve rivalries are here

Posted

Wednesday night will be a busy one. All six area teams will burn plenty of calories to better indulge on Thanksgiving dinner.

The two big rivalry games will be Central Bucks West at Central Bucks East, and Council Rock North at Council Rock South.

The Patriots (2-1) are coming off a tough 7-3 loss to Pennridge. Corey Kosick, who has seven goals on the season, cut the lead to 4-3 late in the second period before the Rams rattled off three unanswered goals.

CB West (1-2-1) enters with some momentum, after going 1-0-1 last week. West beat CR North 4-3 last Wednesday as Isaac Mays turned away 40 of 43 Indian shots. The next night, Mays repulsed 30 of 33 Neshaminy shots and Anthony Dowd had a hat trick as a tired Bucks team skated away with a 3-3 tie.

CR North (0-3) has its work cut out for it against a high flying Golden Hawks offense. For the Indians, Jackson Accardi has four goals on the season and a point in every game.

CR South (4-0) topped Central Bucks South 6-3 last Thursday, one night after stonewalling Neshaminy 10-0. It was the first time the Golden Hawks were held to a single digit goal tally. Jake Weiner had a hat trick against Neshaminy and scored two against the Titans.

CB South (1-1-1) will host North Penn and Pennridge will take on Souderton. CB South (2-1) outshot CR South 39-38 and trailed just 4-3 with 12 minutes in the game.

Pennridge (4-0) also scored seven goals in its Friday shutout of North Penn. Jacob Winton turned away all 18 North Penn shots. Offensively, Kevin Pico had a hat trick against East, Andrew Savona needed his hat size measured against the Knights and Shane Dachowski scored three goals over the two games.
