Falls okays bait and tackle machines at Community Park

Posted

Falls Township Community Park will soon be a one-stop-shop for fishing enthusiasts with the addition of two vending machines that will stock bait and tackle supplies.

During a work session earlier this year, Falls supervisors unanimously approved the installation of two machines next to the park security shed, which is located across the road from the boat ramp at Falls Township Community Park. Electricity is available within the shed and could be used to power the machines.

Falls Township would not own and operate the machines. Instead, the supervisors authorized a park patron to install the machines and be responsible for their stocking and general upkeep.

Depending on how well the machines fare, Township Manager Matthew Takita said the township would discuss a profit-sharing initiative with the owner beginning in 2025.

Supervisors Vice Chair Erin Mullen said the addition of fishing supply vending machines is long overdue.

“The community wants it,” Mullen said.

Supervisors Chairman Jeff Dence agreed.

“Absolutely, I’m sure there’s a need,” he said. “It’s a great addition.”
