The Cooks Creek Watershed Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary Saturday July 13.
Partnering with the nonprofit organization on a big party that day are other environmental groups from Upper Bucks and the Lehigh Valley.
Blake Timochenko, chair of the Durham Environmental Advisory Council, revealed at this month’s Durham Township meeting the initial plans for a festival, marking a half-century of environmental education and advocacy by the host organization. It will also spotlight the extensive environmental resources in Upper Bucks County.
The event will take place at the Silver Creek Athletic Association in Springtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13, and feature live music, food and activities for all ages, Timoshenko said. There will be no charge for admission.
Entertainers will include Dave Fry, the Palisades High School Madrigals, Arianne Rox and Dipswitch. Food trucks already signed up for the festival are Menagerie Foods and Holistic Vibes.
The program will include crafts, workshops for children and adults, and presentations dealing with environmental issues.
Partnering with the CCWA are the Saucon Creek, Gallows Run and Frys Run watershed associations; the Durham, Springfield and Lower Saucon environmental advisory councils; and the Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley.
Timochenko said additional displays, food trucks, sponsors and vendors are being sought for the festival. People and organizations interested in participating in the event may write to 2024creekandriverfestival@gmail.com.
In other business at the Durham meeting, the supervisors awarded the bid for this year’s road projects to Asphalt Maintenance Solutions. The bid came in at $154,600 and it was the only bid received. The project will include work on Funks Mill, Sherers Hill, Kintner, Countryside and Dogwood roads.
Palisades Regional Fire and Rescue Commissioner Jeff Mease also presented a brief update on the organization’s activities at the meeting.
