Corey Moore had three touchdown runs Friday night at No. 4 Spring-Ford as his No. 5 Central Bucks South Titans (11-1) advanced to the District One 6A semifinals with their 35-19 second-round win.
South advances to the semifinal to face top seeded … and archrival … Central Bucks West …in what could be a generational football game for Central Bucks. The winner will ironically play the victor of another bitter rivalry game as Downingtown East hosts Downingtown West in the other semifinal.
Jack Mauz returned a fumble nine yards for a touchdown on the opening kickoff to give the Titans the fastest 7-0 lead they will ever see. Moore added a touchdown plunge late in the first quarter and South took a 14-10 lead into the break.
Moore sandwiched two short second half touchdown runs around Owen Pinkerton’s 29-yard scamper to pay dirt to produce the rest of South’s points.
Until Friday, Spring-Ford had scored at least 27 points in every game. CB South had surrendered 27 or more points in just two games and in their opening four wins, the tough Titans D yielded 23 total points.
Something had to give. And since defense wins championships, what gave was the Rams offense, held to their season low point total. Jim Wade had three tackles for loss. Offensively for South, Moore and Anthony Leonardi both ran for over 120 yards. Those two, plus Pinkerton, have all rushed for over 800 yards this season.
CB West won the Oct. 20 regular season game with South 40-29. Both teams rushed for over 320 yards and both defenses yielded their highest point total of the regular season.
