Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation sets annual meeting, Titanic lecture

Posted

The Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation has two upcoming events — its annual meeting on Nov. 15, and a deep dive into the Titanic and its passengers on Nov. 21 — that are open to the public.

First, the membership meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the foundation’s headquarters at 321 Cedar St. in Bristol.

Board members will be elected, then Grundy Museum Education Coordinator Mary Ellen Kunz will present “The African-American Presence at Pennsbury Manor: Reconstructing Individual Stories.”

There is no fee to attend.

Then, at 7 p.m. Nov. 21, Titanic scholar David J. Kaplan will offer “Survivors, Victims and Legacies: The Rest of the Story.”

Kaplan’s fascination with the Titanic dates back to his childhood. He’s been a member of the Titanic Historical Society for more than four decades and has met 18 survivors of its sinking.

Reservations for Kaplan’s presentation at the foundation’s headquarters can be made by calling 215-788-9408. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of money, paper or sanitary products for the Bristol First United Church Food Pantry.
