Rams suffer first loss

Pennridge boys’ volleyball was eliminated in the first round of states by District Three third-place team Hempfield, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23), on Wednesday night at Quakertown. It was the Rams’ (19-1) first setback of the season. Pennridge statistics: Bradley Nase, 36 assists; Devon Rice, 15 kills, 14 digs; Ben Chinnici, 16 kills, three blocks; Aaron Nelson, four kills, two blocks; Henry Savage, three kills, two blocks; Jesse Smith, eight digs; and Max McVaugh, eight digs.

District champs! Rams roll

Pennridge boys’ volleyball captured its first District One title since 2012 with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 26-24) victory over Council Rock North on Thursday in the final at Upper Dublin. The Rams are now 19-0 on the season and will play the third-place team from District Three in the first round of the state playoffs on Wednesday. Pennridge statistics from Thursday night: Bradley Nase, 40 assists, 10 digs; Devon Rice, 14 kills, 11 digs, two aces; Ben Chinnici, 15 kills, 15 digs; Henry Savage, eight kills, four blocks; Aaron Nelson, five kills; Max McVaugh, 18 digs; and Jesse Smith, 12 digs.

Rams advance to district final

It wasn’t easy, but Pennridge boys’ volleyball held on to knock off fifth-seeded North Penn, 3-2 (24-26, 25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10), in the district semifinals on Tuesday at Upper Dublin. The Rams, the top seed, will meet up with No. 2 CR North for the district championship on Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., back at Upper Dublin. Against the Knights, Pennridge setter Bradley Nase had 45 assists. Also contributing to the win were: Devon Rice, 22 kills, 15 digs; Ben Chinnici, 17 kills, 15 digs; Henry Savage, 12 kills, six blocks; Josiah Friesen, four kills; Aaron Nelson, two kills, four blocks; Jesse Smith, six digs, two aces; and Austin Rush, 11 digs.

Panthers eliminated by Tennent

Quakertown boys’ volleyball’s strong season ended on Thursday night at William Tennent, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20), in the quarterfinals of the District One tournament. The Panthers concluded their campaign at 15-5. No. 6 Quakertown had beaten Tennent, the third seed, earlier in the year. Quakertown statistics from Thursday: Dylan Flor, eight kills; Lucas Schan, seven kills; Mike Dierolf, five kills; and Xavier Villanueva, 21 assists.

Rams breeze into district semis

Top-seeded Pennridge boys’ volleyball cruised into the District One semifinals with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-12) victory over No. 8 CB East in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Rams (17-0 on the season) will take on fifth-seeded North Penn in the district semis on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Upper Dublin. Pennridge statistics from Thursday: Bradley Nase, 30 assists, three kills; Max McVaugh, 14 digs; Devon Rice, three kills, eight digs, four aces, three blocks; Ben Chinnici, 11 kills, three aces; Henry Savage, six kills, three blocks, three aces; Josiah Friesen, seven kills, two blocks; Jesse Smith, eight digs; and Aaron Nelson, three kills, two blocks.

Panthers win district opener

Quakertown boys’ volleyball defeated Abington, 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 29-27, 25-15), at home in the first round of districts on Tuesday evening. Panther statistics: Dylan Flor, 17 kills, six digs; Mike Dierolf, eight kills, 10 digs; Coulton Terry, eight kills, four blocks; Lucas Schan, two kills, three blocks, two aces; Xavier Villanueva, one kill, 37 assists, 16 digs, two aces; and Nick Wesley, 11 digs.

Rams are perfect (16-0)

Pennridge boys’ volleyball completed a perfect regular season at 16-0 with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-27) victory at Souderton on Thursday. Leading the way for the Rams against the Indians were: Bradley Nase, 13 assists; Jesse Smith, 16 assists, two aces; Ben Chinnici, seven kills, three blocks, seven digs; Henry Savage, three kills, four blocks; Aaron Nelson, four kills, two blocks; Josiah Fridsb, six kills; Sam Handy, three kills; and Max McVaugh, nine digs.

Rams bump North Penn

Pennridge boys’ volleyball swept North Penn, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-19), on Wednesday. Ram statistics: Bradley Nase, 32 assists, three blocks; Max McVaugh, 12 digs; Ben Chinnici, 14 kills, six digs, three aces; Devon Rice, eight kills, 10 digs; Henry Savage, five kills, two blocks; Josiah Friesen, three kills, four blocks; Aaron Nelson, three kills, two blocks; and Jon Long, two kills, three blocks. Pennridge is 15-0 on the season. The Rams will travel to Souderton for a 3:30 p.m. match on Thursday afternoon to close out the regular season.

Panthers brush aside Cheltenham

Quakertown boys’ volleyball dropped Cheltenham, 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 27-25), on Tuesday. Contributing to the win were: Dylan Flor, 14 kills, two blocks; Coulton Terry, eight kills, four blocks; Mike Dierolf, eight kills; Lucas Schan, six kills, two blocks; Jeff Prusch, seven digs; Nick Wesley, seven digs; and Xavier Villanueva, 33 assists.

Rams smash Upper Dublin

Pennridge boys’ volleyball celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17) victory over Upper Dublin on Tuesday. All nine senior Rams contributed to the team win. Pennridge is now 14-0 and will take on North Penn on Wednesday. Statistics from Tuesday’s triumph for the Rams: Bradley Nase, 29 assists, four kills; Brandon Greb, nine kills, four blocks; Max McVaugh, seven kills, nine digs, four aces; Henry Savage, seven kills, three aces, three blocks; Sam Handy, five kills, 12 digs; Brian Rosenberg, eight digs, three blocks; Jon Long, two kills, two blocks; Lucas Hefner, 15 digs; and Devon Rice, five aces.
