Quakertown girls’ volleyball defeated Souderton, 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12), on Wednesday. Amanda Pursel led the Panthers with 12 kills and five digs. Also contributing were: Liana Buonanno Taylor, eight aces, nine digs, two kills; Haley Sheehan, eight kills, one block; Katelyn Spieker, five kills, three blocks; and Jen Sterner, 16 assists, four digs.
Quakertown girls’ volleyball lost to Plymouth Whitemarsh, 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 25-12), on Tuesday. Amanda Pursel (10 kills, one block, four digs) and Katelyn Spieker (nine kills, three blocks) led the offense for the Panthers. Also contributing were: Liana Buonanno Taylor (12 digs, five aces) and Kerry Vanyo (12 assists, one ace, seven digs).
Central Bucks East girls’ volleyball needed four sets to erase Quakertown, 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20), Thursday. For the Panthers, Jen Sterner had nine kills, seven digs and one block, while Liana Buonanno Taylor contributed 14 digs and four kills. Haley Sheehan added five kills and two blocks, and Autumn Bolton had 12 digs.
Quakertown girls’ volleyball swept North Penn, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-13), on Tuesday. The offense for the Panthers was led by Jen Sterner (16 assists, four kills, six digs, one ace), Amanda Pursel (11 kills) and Ericka Schmidlechner (six kills). On defense, Liana Buonanno Taylor contributed 11 digs and two aces, while Autumn Bolton (13 digs, one ace) and Lindsay Beck (10 digs, four aces) chipped in, as well.
Quakertown girls’ volleyball downed Wissahickon, 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-12, 25-13), on Monday. Kerry Vanyo handed out 25 assists (to go along with eight aces) for the Panthers. Amanda Pursel managed 17 kills and six digs, and Liana Buonanno Taylor came up with eight digs and seven aces.
Central Bucks South girls’ volleyball was too much for Quakertown, 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 17-25, 25-20), on Thursday. Amanda Pursel and Haley Sheehan paced the Panthers’ attack with nine and eight kills, respectively. Jen Sterner had 16 assists.
New Hope-Solebury girls’ volleyball swept Faith Christian, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-19), on Tuesday. New Hope senior setter Casey Coughlin handed out 23 assists, while sophomore Jacquie Whitney (17 kills) and senior Hannah Lelie (11 kills) added to the offensive attack. Faith was paced by Kari Anderson’s 12 assists and Kendra Kemmerer’s 10 kills.
Central Bucks West girls’ volleyball won a hard-fought battle Thursday against Quakertown, 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-19). Statistics for Quakertown: Jen Sterner, 19 assists, four kills; Amanda Pursel, seven kills, four digs; Haley Sheehan, seven kills, two digs; Sabrina Lee, five kills, one block; Katelyn Spieker, five kills; Liana Buonanno Taylor, 12 digs; and Lindsay Beck, 10 digs.
Trailing two sets to zero, Quakertown girls’ volleyball came back to stun Souderton, 3-2 (23-25, 15-25, 32-30, 25-20, 15-6), Wednesday. It was the Panthers’ first win (1-5) in the SOL Continental. Liana Buonanno Taylor led Quakertown with 31 digs and three aces. Amanda Pursel had 13 kills and eight digs, while Jen Sterner added 17 assists, five kills and an ace. Haley Sheehan (five kills, two aces) and Katelyn Spieker (five kills) also contributed.
Faith Christian girls’ volleyball succumbed to Christopher Dock, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-15), on Tuesday.
