Patriots rally to clip Hatters

CB East senior third baseman Carter Usowski hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to propel the Patriots baseball team to a 3-1 victory over Hatboro-Horsham on Wednesday. Eric Chase (2-0) pitched a complete game for CB East. He’s allowed one earned run in his last 14 innings pitched. Against the Hatters, Thomas Prato and Usowski each managed two hits.

Unangst, Rams overpower Panthers

Catcher Joe Unangst went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as Pennridge baseball defeated Quakertown, 11-4, on Tuesday. Dave Tatoian had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored from the leadoff position. Dan Long and Tommy Nuneviller each added two hits. Nuneviller also had two RBI. Andrew Mayhew picked up the win on the mound, striking out seven in four and two-thirds innings. For the Panthers, John Lilley had two hits, and Chris Curry knocked in two and scored a run.

Titans go extras to nip Panthers

CB South baseball went nine innings to edge Quakertown, 3-2, on Friday. Dave Burns scored the winning run on an error. Tyler Guidos pitched eight strong innings for the Panthers, yielding only two earned runs. Guidos also stood out at the plate for Quakertown. He had two hits and an RBI. For the Titans, Mike Anastasia went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Alex Happ and Will Moller each also had two hits for CB South. Danny Klepchick picked up the win, twirling three innings of scoreless relief.

Patriots too much for Bucks

Mike Broderick allowed only one run in six and one-third innings as CB East baseball powered past rival CB West, 10-1, on Friday. The Patriots scored seven runs in the bottom of the second and three in the fifth. Colin Sheehan drove in three, and David Yanni and Geoffrey Salfi each knocked in two for CB East. Carter Usowski scored a pair and added an RBI. Broderick fanned six and yielded six hits and two walks. Luke Irons went 2-for-2 for the Bucks.

Patriots’ Chase tosses three-hitter

Eric Chase pitched a complete-game three-hitter as CB East baseball won at Quakertown, 5-0, on Wednesday. Chase needed only 64 pitches to complete his masterpiece. He didn’t walk nor strikeout a Panther. Leadoff hitter Cameron Komanchak went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. David Yanni went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Thomas Prato drove in three with a triple.

Patriots take advantage of miscues

CB East baseball beat CB South, 6-4, on Monday. The Patriots and Titans combined for 10 errors; CB South had six, including three in CB East’s five-run fifth inning. Mike Broderick picked up the win, going five-plus innings and allowing only two earned runs and striking out five. David Drea was tagged with the loss, though of the five runs scored against him, only one was earned. Colin Sheehan went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Patriots. Alex Happ, Steve Trachtenberg and Mike Kuypers all had two hits for the Titans. Happ also drove in two. Danny Klepchick started the game for CB South and fanned nine in four innings. He allowed only one hit.

Metz pitches Panthers to win

Zack Metz pitched five and a third innings of shutout ball as Quakertown baseball blanked Souderton, 3-0, on Tuesday. The game was shortened because of rain. Metz allowed six hits and fanned three. He was supported offensively by Chris Curry, who had two hits and scored a run. Tyler Guidos and John Lilley each had a hit and a run scored. Torin Martutartus had the lone RBI for the Panthers.

Panthers squash Norristown

Quakertown baseball put a six-spot on the board in the bottom of the sixth to rip Norristown, 11-1, on Wednesday. Jake Perrine and Chris Curry starred offensively for the Panthers. Both managed two hits and three RBI. John Lilley also roped two base hits against Norristown. Gunnar Horst had two RBI. Cooper Johnson picked up the win on the mound, going four innings and allowing the one run, which was unearned.

Irons lifts Bucks past Panthers

Luke Irons struck out nine over four innings, but more importantly, he drove in three as Central Bucks West baseball defeated visiting Quakertown, 8-3, on Tuesday. Thomas Spratt relieved Irons on the mound and pitched three scoreless innings for the win. Matt Peralta went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs for the Bucks. CB West scored five in the bottom of the fifth to separate from the Panthers.
