Solebury School girls’ soccer fell to Foundation Collegiate Academy, 2-1, in overtime on Thursday. “Led by captains Max Brewington, Carol Wright and Vikki Rueda-Juarez, Solebury controlled play for much of the game, but could not unlock Foundation Collegiate’s defense,” head coach Timothy Hall said. “Foundation Collegiate struck first in the 7th minute, but Solebury evened the score late in the first half when Brewington played a through ball that Helen Jin drove home for her first career goal. Although Solebury created a number of excellent opportunities in the second half, the game remained tied and went to overtime. Late in the second 10-minute overtime period, Foundation Collegiate took advantage on a counterattack and ended the game on a strong half volley. Junior captain and goalkeeper Rueda-Juarez, supported ably by center backs Wright and Abbie Rains, did an outstanding job limiting Foundation Collegiate’s opportunities. Addie Groth-Tuft, Olivia Lutz and Fiona Bauman worked hard to create many of Solebury’s scoring chances. Eighth-grader Nicole Cosner had a strong debut, playing an excellent outside back, providing long, powerful throw-ins from the right side and working aggressively to contribute to the offense.” Solebury will be back in action Monday, Sept. 21 when it hosts Abington Friends School at 4 p.m.
