Solebury School girls’ lacrosse won for the first time in nearly two years Monday. The Spartans sent back Barrack Hebrew Academy, 5-4. Solebury got on the board first with a goal from Stasia Babicki, but Barrack would answer with two goals in a row to make the score 2-1. By halftime, the score was 2-2 after a late first-half goal by Cassidy Patterson. The second half was a fight to the finish as Barrack scored first, but that goal was followed up by a speedy one-on-one run to the goal by Shannon Foley to tie it up, 3-3. Barrack scored one last time to gain the lead at 4-3, but Babicki would answer to tie the game at 4-4 with 5:30 left in the second half. Solebury was able to win the draw and Solebury’s offense hung on to the ball for five minutes, passing it around, cutting and getting open for each other. With time ticking down, Barrack’s defense started to pressure more to try and get the ball back, but Babicki found herself one on one with a defender, saw an opening and with 34 seconds left in the game, took it around the crease to the front of the goal and found the back of the net to give Solebury the win.
