CB_East_runnersOn Friday, 18 schools from Bucks County gathered for the ninth annual John Sharp Invitational, hosted by Archbishop Wood High School at the Northampton Civic Center.

The Central Bucks East Patriots had quite a day, winning first place in the varsity girls’ race, second place in the varsity boys’ race, second place in the JV girls’ race and first place in the novice girls’ race. The Patriots surprised their top rival, CB West, beating them in the varsity girls’, varsity boys’ and novice girls’ races. This will put East on a good path to repeat as league champs.

The top runners for East were Jake Brophy, left, finishing third with a time of 15:49, and Elizabeth Huuki, right, who placed fifth in 19:07. Other notable runners included: Connor Sands and Billy Rollo for the varsity boys, and Meghan Willcoxon and Elizabeth Morris for the varsity girls.

The Patriots will host their next race, the CB East Invitational, on Sept. 7 on the CB East campus.
