Fourth-seeded Central Bucks East boys’ lacrosse won its first-round game in the District One Class AAAA tournament on Tuesday, downing No. 29 Council Rock North, 12-2, at War Memorial Field. The Patriots struck first when Matt Schmidt scored his first of four goals at the 11:16 mark in the first. Matt Heim and Owen Griffin each added a goal to put the Patriots up, 3-0. The Indians scored at the 2:50 mark on a man-up advantage, but Schmidt added another goal 10 seconds later and the Patriots ended the quarter up, 4-1. The Indians scored first in the second on another man-up advantage, but that would be the last goal they would score as the Patriots defense held the Indians scoreless for the next 35 minutes. The Patriots would add three goals in the second to take a 7-2 lead into halftime. In the third, CB East would add three more and then another two in the fourth. Andrew Del Bracco won six of six faceoffs. Sean McGovern had seven saves. The CB East defense was led by McGovern, Dustin Buchanan (five ground balls, seven caused turnovers), Tyler Butler (three ground balls, five caused turnovers) and Mike Eveland (three ground balls, one caused turnover).
