Future looks bright for Patriots

As the start of the new school year nears, Central Bucks East cross country continues to prepare for the upcoming season. East has a strong team this year with five varsity runners returning from last season. Among those are Billy Rollo and Jon Wommer, two senior captains on the East squad.

Both Rollo and Wommer feel confident in their team, hoping to repeat as league champions. Wommer said, “This year is looking pretty good, we took leagues last year, and we’re hoping to do it again.” Repeating as league champions will be tough, with other rival schools like CB West, Pennridge, CB South and North Penn. Rollo was wary of other runners, naming individuals such as Sam Webb (Pennsbury), Ross Wilson (CR North) and Ryan Grace (North Penn).

This year marks the end for East’s 22 senior runners, but Rollo and Wommer are sure East will succeed in the future. Rollo said, “We have a strong group of sophomores with a group of six or seven guys running near 18 (minutes) or under 18. The team will definitely be good for years to come.” Wommer agreed, saying, “We have a pretty strong team…especially sophomores, freshmen and juniors.” The future looks bright for CB East cross country.
