Doane betters Spartans by one

Solebury School girls’ soccer fell by a 1-0 count Saturday to Doane Academy. “The field was pretty rough to play on, extremely bumpy with high grass patches all over, especially by the goals,” Spartans head coach Lisa Bernardini said. “Doane got a little shot off on the ground and it seemed to hit a bump that threw our ’keeper, Tavorsia Talley, off a bit and she wasn’t able to get to it. Overall, though, we played great. We kept them to one goal in the first half, and denied any chances the rest of the game. Carol Wright really stepped up and made some great tackles today in the back, and the whole back line in general worked really well together. Serious improvements are being seen.”
