NOVA celebrates art show and sale anniversary
Network of Victim Assistance celebrates two decades of cultivating and showcasing great local artists with its 2013 Galaxy Art Show & Sale.
A retrospective of past years’ featured Galaxy artists marks the four-day event, held Thursday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 10 in the Bucks County Courthouse rotunda in Doylestown.
Works by these former featured artists will be highlighted: the late Katherine Steele Renninger, Harriet Ermentrout, Glenna Lange Bye, Jean Franz Miller, Susan Ketcham, the late George Booz, the late Ranulph Bye, Taylor Oughton, Donald Patterson, Alan Fetterman, Colette Sexton, Dot Bunn, Carol Cymbor, Helena Van Emmerik-Finn, George Thompson, Materese Roche, Christopher McCall and Emily Thompson.
They will be honored during the opening artists’ preview reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. The art and high-end crafts of more than 80 additional artists from across the region will be offered for viewing and for sale.
The Galaxy Art Show & Sale is NOVA’s premiere fundraiser and community event. After the opening reception on Nov. 7, the show and sale are open to the public free of charge Nov. 8 through 10.
Special free activities for adults and children include a Beading Workshop for ages 4 and up from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9; “Self-Expression Through Art: Exploring Your Personal Journey,” presented by NOVA Counselors Charity G. Mackey, M.S., LPC and Joyce Jefferies, M.S., at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
On Sunday, Nov. 10, there is a Children’s Illustrator and Author Event with Lee Harper and Debbie Dadey from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Jazz and Mimosas, featuring the Delaware Valley College Saxophone Quartet, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Afternoon Tea with the Artists at 2 p.m.
