Dance company performs "Annie Jr." in Doylestown
Members of Dance Elite Horsham’s Performance Company have been rehearsing since November for their Feb. 1 performances of the Broadway Junior version of “Annie” in Doylestown.
Set in the Depression era, the musical is based on the smash Broadway hit, “Annie,” a family favorite about an orphan who never gives up hope of having a family.
The show features students from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including Lauren Barkman, 13, of Richboro, as Annie.
Additional performers include Alec Cenci of Hamilton, N.J., as Daddy Warbucks, Marley Madding of New Hope as Miss Hannigan, Sam Balka of Newtown as Rooster, and Caroline Clayton of Jamison as Lily St. Regis.
Newly appointed director of Dance Elite Horsham’s Performance Company, Bucks County native and Broadway veteran, Carrie Nelson said she chose “Annie Jr.” for the company’s inaugural production “because it’s timeless.”
Performances are at 2 and 4 p.m. Feb. 1 at the James Lorah Auditorium, 132 N. Main St., Doylestown. Tickets are $10 at the door or on the Brown Paper Tickets website.
