Potter Contracting of Dublin is renovating the farmhouse in Chalfont where the Talking Tea Cup was located.
The owners of the Talking Tea Cup, Kathy and Eric Heck, retired and closed the business, but they want to turn the farmhouse into their “forever home.”
“I am very excited to be working with Kathy and Eric on this restoration,” said Matt Potter, owner of Potter Contracting. “As the owner of a 300-year-old farmhouse myself, I feel we [owners of farmhouses] are stewards of these beautiful monuments to history.”
Plans call for some structural changes, and most significantly, reviving the picturesque charm and beauty of the building. Restorations plans include a new roof and gutters, custom period kitchen and bathroom, new windows, fireplace restoration and refinishing of most of the existing antique wood flooring.
“Eric and I are very excited to announce that we’re bringing our little teacup back to its historic glory,” said Kathy Heck.
The farmhouse where the Talking Tea Cup was located was built in 1761, with additions added in 1820 and 1880. The grounds were a working farm from the 1760s until the 1950s. From the 1950s on, various businesses were located on the property; the Talking Tea Cup was open from 2003 to 2019. The renovation is expected to be completed in late spring.
