Phillips’ Mill stages first Youth Art Exhibition

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association, which has held its juried exhibition for 84 years, is hosting its first Youth Art Exhibition featuring works from 11 local schools this January.

Exhibition will be open to the public on three successive weekends Jan. 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. The mill is open from noon to 5 p.m. and admission is free.

Eleven high schools from Pennsylvania and New Jersey both public and private elected to participate. They are: Central Bucks East (Buckingham), Central Bucks West (Doylestown), Holy Ghost Prep (Bensalem), Council Rock High School North (Newtown), George School (Newtown), New Hope-Solebury High School (New Hope), Solebury School (New Hope), Ewing High School (Ewing, N.J.) and The Pennington School (Pennington, N.J.).

The art department at each school will choose 12 student works for the exhibition. The exhibited art will include two- and three-dimensional works comprising painting, watercolor, collage, pastel, graphite, digital art that is not photography and sculpture.

Awards will be determined by the show’s juror, Marcia Weikert who holds a B.S. in art education from SUNY and an M.F.A. in painting and printmaking from Tyler School of Art.
